In RY 2024/25, RC Klang has initiated Autism Care Program under President AVM Prem Kumar and Organizing Chairman, Dato Dr Xavier Jayakumar. Autism is a cognitive disorder, categorized as a learning disability along with Downs Syndrome, Dyslexia, ADHD and ADD.
Children from the B 40 families send their children to government schools. These are identified as PPKI schools which provide classes with a specific curriculum. As we are now aware, facilities to improve their behavior and get them assimilated into society can only be done with the proper stimulative teaching aids and programmes.
The Rotary Club of Klang which turns 100 years in 2030, has embarked on a list of meaningful endeavors to help society. For Autism we plan to build and equip “Multisensory Class Rooms” in National schools.This program also entails the training of teachers and parents, at least 3 times a year.
